| When you have bought some trains, it can be wise to take good care of it. When not running the trains it can easily be stored in a display case on your wall. You can choose to buy such a display case or make it on your own. The train will be easier maintend, you get an easy overlook of what you own, and a nice showroom. I shall show how you easily make your own display case, The display case can contain a lot of trains, is good looking and cheap. Some of you might reckognize this display case, as my good friend, Heine Pedersen earlier made on similuar to this, but good ideas can not be told enough. At IKEA they sell a pictureframe named "Ribba" (in scandinavia). "Ribba" can easily be build into a display case for trains in both Z- and N-scale. "Ribba" is sold in several sizes and in different wood. I have tried both 50x70 cm and 70x100 cm, and norwegian prices are about 22 Euro to 28 Euro. The advantage of "Ribba" is that i so deep, actually 24 mm from the glas. Therefore it is suitable to both Z- and N-scale. I would mainly recommend the 70x100 cm pictureframe. That is because you get place to so much more trains, and the front is in hard plastic in stead of thin glas (that easly explose). Because of the light plastic, the display case is lighter on the wall. You also need woodstaffs to make rows that the trains can stand on in the display case. You are pretty free to choose whatever you like, but it must have a side that is flat. The woodenstaff can be from 15 mm to 24 mm. In my display case I have choosen quarterstaff at 15x 15 mm. This is just enough. Because the pictureframe shall lay at woodstaff to the plate in back, you need a more solid woodenstaff to this. I choose a 21x32 mm to this purpuse. You also need some screws to make it hang on the wall, and some glue for wood. |
